Central Visayas Network of NGOs held their 8th General Assembly

The Central Visayas Network of NGOs (CENVISNET) conducted its Annual General Assembly and the launching of the Regional Poverty Reduction Development Agenda (RPRDA) of Region 7 for the Decentralized Governance Project supported by CODE-NGO last April 25-26, 2014 at Plaza Maria Luiza in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. 

 


On the first day, the launching of the RPRDA of Region 7 was fully attended by the different CSOs in the region and also attended by representatives from the regional government agencies, specifically from the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Aldwin Joseph Empaces, coordinator of CENVISNET, presented the RPRDA to the body and it was reaffirmed and approved to be adopted by the civil society organizations (CSOs) in the region. Ms. Emilia Roslinda, one of the region’s Private Sectoral Representative in the Regional Development Council gave her support and commitment to the RPRDA by affixing her signature during the ceremonial signing of the RPRDA. The representatives of the regional line agencies presented the plans and programs of their agencies and also gave their support for the RPRDA in line with the thrusts and goals of their agencies.

On the next day, the General Assembly proper was conducted. A new set of Board of Trustees was elected. Mr. Anthony Dignadice was re-elected as Chairperson of the network. The board composition is a mix of new board members and incumbent board from the three provincial networks of CenVISNET namely Kaabag sa Sugbu, Bohol Alliance of NGOs and Negros Oriental Network of NGOs and POs. The body approved the amendments of the Articles and By-laws of the network and  also revisited the Vision-Mission and strategic goals of the network for 2013-2016. The two-day event ended with great hope and excitement for the accomplishment of the goals and attainment of the vision of the network.
