CODE-NGO represented in the Development forum in Ligatne, Latvia

The international three-day Development Forum took place in Līgatne, Latvia on June 3-5, 2015, as one of the main events in the field of development organized during half of the year that Latvia holds Presidency of the European Union. As part of the process, LAPAS (Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation) organized an event on Community Development from local to global. Around 10 countries represented by community activists and passionate leaders, policy-makers gathered together and focused their conversation on glocalization methodology (interaction between the local and the global) with the hope of increasing public understanding about global issues and their links to people’s everyday life, and how these daily choices of the people carry impact on the global challenges.

The Development Forum aimed at raising public awareness about global development issues and promoted the potential of cooperation initiatives among communities as a tool for global development.

START Network Inception Workshop, Advocacy Working Group on DRR-CCA and ACED Year 3 Orientation

CODE-NGO conducted a three-agenda meeting last June 15, 2015 at the Ugnayan Hall, PhilDHRRA Partnership Center, Quezon City. It was primarily on: (1.) START Network Preparatory Meeting, (2.) Advocacy Working Group on DRR-CCA, and (3.) Advancing CSO Engagement on DRR-CCA (ACED) Year 3 orientation. This event was participated in by member networks of CODE-NGO involved in DRRM.

Surge Capacity, as defined by People in Aid (2007), is the ability of an organization to scale up (and scale down) resources quickly and effectively to meet increased demand and stabilize or alleviate suffering in any given population during emergencies. START Network, a consortium of 19 leading international humanitarian NGOs, wanted to transform surge capacity in the Philippines by localizing it, improving collaboration among organizations and promoting better engagement with key stakeholders.

Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) 383 Luzon Conference

“Enjoy the leadership, take the challenge,” said Paul Richard Paraguya, CODE-NGO Project Manager and NAPC NGO Sector Representative, to the attendees of the Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) 383 Luzon Conference last June 16-17, 2015 at the Institute of Social Order (ISO), Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City.
