On December 19, 2019, another history for Philippine Open Government Partnership happened as we successfully launched its 5th National Action Plan. The Plan has 10 priority commitments, 5 of which will be co-implemented by government and non-government commitment holders. The commitments are centered on improving public service delivery for various fields, such as education, public procurement, people’s participation in governance, and transparency in the extractives industry.

“This is the first time in Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH OGP) where we have not only embarked on co-creating the commitments, but we have co-created the implementation and monitoring plans of these commitments as well. This was an intentional process – the last step in the crafting to this Plan – with the end in view of ensuring that every single commitment will bring about positive, concrete, and felt results by 2021”, says Andrea Maria Patricia Sarenas, Co-chair of the Philippine OGP Steering Committee representing the non-government sector.

Aside from the ceremonial launch of the 5th National Action Plan, two panel discussions between government and non-government commitment holders and partners were conducted to share their experiences on the co-creation processes and discuss how their hopes and efforts will complement for the realization of the plan.
