By CODE-NGO

As the COVID-19 pandemic drastically evolve, CODE-NGO and its 12 member networks mobilized actions to fight the pandemic at various levels.

At the onset of the quarantine in March 15, 2020, nine of CODE-NGO’s 12 member networks activated their Regional DRRM Coordination Hubs in 10 regions of the country to map out and coordinate COVID-19 response actions of their members and partners. These regional hubs are in CAR, NCR, MIMAROPA, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao and Caraga. Immediate responses of members included information and education campaigns (IEC), risk communications, cash and food relief operationns for their staff, member organizations, partner communities, and frontline health workers in partner hospitals.

Moreover, 5 of 12 member networks initiated fund raising activities to support humanitarian responses and monitor government interventions on COVID-19. Finally, three member networks conducted community assessments, and are currently facilitating policy advocacy work and providing other types of support such as online psycho-social intervention and post-quarantine activities on recovery and rehabilitation for their members.

It is estimated that the Association of Foundations’ (AF) member corporate foundations and their parent corporations have so far contributed Php 3-6 billion through their COVID-19 response. The Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) has raised Php 133M through its #BayanihanMusikahan project. The Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA) members and partners have raised external resources and provided assistance amounting to Php44 million to their partner communities.  Other CODE-NGO hub members in 10regions of the country have mobilized P7.9M in cash and in-kind contributions and volunteering services.

Collectively, at least 153 organizations among the CODE-NGO member networks or DRRM hubs and partner organizations have responded or are still responding to needs brought about by the pandemic.
