The Central Visayas Network of NGOs (CENVISNET) and other convergences in the Zero Extreme Poverty (ZEP) 2030 were featured in UN OCHA’s series on localization: How the Philippines is quietly implementing a localized COVID-19 humanitarian response.
With the rise of COVID19 cases in Central Visayas, with Cebu alone recording 9,075, the city became a new hotspot for cases in the Philippines. As of writing, Cebu has more cases than Quezon City. With the dwindling supply of lifesaving aid, limited financial support and livelihood opportunities in the area, the ZEP Convergence raised a call to action to support Central Visayas. The ZEP convergence shifted their priority to the immediate provision of emergency support to the COVID19 response in Metro Cebu and Central Visayas.
