CODE-NGO supports the statement of its member network PHILSSA condemning the police search of the premises of the civil society organization (CSO) Katotohanan, Pagkakaisa at Serbisyo (KPS) in General Santos City and the arrest of its Chairperson Boy Olarte. CODE-NGO sees this as another case of harassment of human rights advocates and organizations in Mindanao.

Mr. Olarte and his organization KPS are known advocates for self-help and self-reliant solutions for the poor and informal settler families, are fighting against landgrabbing and implementing land and housing projects, social protection, services to women and children, savings and livelihoods and disaster risk reduction, not only in General Santos City, but in Region XII and other areas in Mindanao.

CODE-NGO calls for upholding the rule of law and justice in the case of KPS and the immediate release of its Chairperson Boy Olarte.
